Are non-Muslims eligible for salvation in the hereafter?
According to the Quran there are only two prerequisites for the salvation of any human being:
1. Faith (imān) in Allah without associating any partners to Him or denying His authority.
2. Good deeds (ʿal-ʿamal al-ṣāliḥ’) that directly or indirectly elevate one’s spirituality, for example, praying or giving charity to help others.
Both of these prerequisites are consistently advocated by the Quran (2:62, 5:69). Only Allah can ascertain the level of faith an individual possesses or the intentions behind an individual’s deeds. Accordingly, it is the exclusive right of Allah to determine whether an individual (Muslim or non-Muslim) is eligible for salvation or not.
